March 14th: FIRST TEAM GAME: WRITTLE 0~2 TOWN (LEAGUE)
Town were the stronger team in the first half with Marcus Bowers and Alex Smith going close but the match remained goal-less at half time.
Town took the lead, seven minutes into the second half when a corner from Marcus Bowers was headed home by Josh Stead and five minutes later Town went further in front. Adam King hit the ball down the left wing to Marcus Bowers who flicked the ball on to be met by Jason Potter. He lobbed the oncoming goalkeeper to put the match beyond doubt.
Town should have increased their lead through efforts by Steven Leaver and Brett Eales but were happy to take all the points back home. |
March 7th: FIRST TEAM GAME: NEWHAM UNITED 2~2 TOWN (LEAGUE)
Alex Smith had been thrarted twice by the home keeper before Town took the lead in the 19th minute. Jason Potter had headed a corner onto the Newham crossbar but Marcus Bowers crashed home the rebound for his 10th goal of the season from the edge of the six yard box. Town's defense were put under severe pressure from the home forwards after two "goals" were dis-allowed for offside, Newham deservedly equalised in the 40th minute from a corner.
It was end to end stuff in the second half but Newham took the lead in the 79th minute. However, intense pressure from Town paid off, deep into injury time when Deano cracked the ball home from a corner, following an assist by Josh Stead, to share the points. |
